In 2010 Michael Wilson was invited to design and make a perpetual trophy to be presented to the winning team in the international netball test between the Australian Diamonds and the New Zealand Silver Ferns.
The trophy was named the Constellation Cup after the Crux or Southern Cross which adorns the national flag of each country. It was sponsored by HE Ms Quentin Bryce AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia and HE Sir Anand Satyanand GNZM, QSO, Governor-General of New Zealand. The trophy took 160 hours to make. It is made from 3kg of solid Sterling Silver to represent the New Zealand Silver Ferns and is set with 101 diamonds – white, black and cognac colours to represent the Australian Diamonds. The cup stands ½ a metre high and is on a base made from ancient Murray River red gum. The display case in black maire wood was made by a New Zealander, Vic Matthews.
In 2014 the Australian Diamonds won the Constellation Cup after a clean sweep against their main rivals the New Zealand Silver Ferns.

In support of Netball Australia Michael has created a special memento. The limited edition goal pendant and earrings were inspired by the graphic image of the netball goal net. Their creation coincides with the 2015 Netball World Cup coming to Australia in August 2015. Each piece is handcrafted in the Michael Wilson Diamond Jewellers workshop in solid sterling silver.
With 1.2 million participants in Australia we are sure that the striking pieces will be snapped up quickly by fans of the game. We have only produced a limited number, so get in quick to secure that perfect gift for your coach, umpire, or fellow netball fanatic. The collection is available exclusively via the Netball Australia online shop until stock runs out.
At the end of every year The Australian Netball Awards are held to reward the top players of the season.
